Trapas Pratt – President & Chief Executive Officer
With a degree in Construction Management and over 20 years experience working in the construction industry in all phases of field work and management, Trapas has worked his way to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Mechworks, Inc.
He started his career in the field in the Commercial Construction industry in 2000 as a project engineer in the field managing all rebar, post tensioning, and formwork suppliers/installers for the 7 story $115 million dollar parking deck and multi-purpose building project for RDU Airport. After that project was completed, Trapas joined a global general contractor as an assistant project manager and managed divisions 1 to 16 for projects including a $2.5 million dollar parking deck expansion, $32 million dollar campus for the Town of Cary, and multiple projects ranging from $2 million to $ 5 million for Fidelity Investments. All projects were finished safely, on or ahead of schedule, and with-in budget. He worked his way up to our senior vice president by successfully managing all trades on multiple large commercial projects for public and private entities.
In addition to his education & experience, Trapas holds his NC Unlimited GC license, NC Mechanical licenses H1, H2 & H3, and is a LEED Accredited Professional among many other certifications. Having worked in the field of general contracting, managing subcontractors and project schedules for multiple projects, along with knowledge of plans, specification & scheduling software, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the Mechworks leadership team.
Loretta Baily – Corporate Secretary & Chief Financial Officer
With over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, 18 spent with Mechworks, Inc., Loretta Baily has gained a wide range of expertise leading to her current position as Chief Financial Officer.
In addition to attending East Carolina University, Mrs. Baily has completed a wealth of training and seminars to advance her knowledge of things such as OSHA labor standards & safety, Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF), workers compensation, payroll & financial management certifications, and she also holds the title of Notary Public.
22 years of her career involved office management for a general contractor, which allows her a broad view of the construction process. Using this knowledge of the industry, she proficiently manages project administration for all three divisions of Mechworks, Inc. including contracts, bonding, finance, insurance, safety & training, staffing, subcontractor compliance and small business administration.
Andy Swofford – Senior Vice President & Chief Operations Officer
Andy Swofford has over 25 years of experience working in the mechanical construction industry. He started his career as a Piping Assistant and acquired “field” experience working with both sheet metal and piping. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University he returned to the industry, working as a Project Manager and Estimator, until ultimately becoming appointed the President of a Greensboro mechanical contracting firm. Mr. Swofford came to Mechworks Inc. after spending 4 ½ years as Vice-President of P.I. Mechanical and has now been with us for 15 years and holds the title of Senior Vice President & Chief Operations Officer.
With a background in the installation of HVAC systems, both new construction and retrofits, his field experience has helped him in the estimating and project management aspects of his work. He has estimated and managed many projects ranging from well over a million dollars, to as little as a few thousand dollars. In addition to these duties, he has been responsible for the day to day operations of a contracting business as well as managing up to 70 employees. He is aware of the value of scheduling a job as well as seeing the job through to its on-time completion, while working with other trades and customers to achieve a common goal.
Shaun Hathaway – Vice President & Project Manager: Triangle Office
After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University in 2000, Shaun began his career with a large mechanical contractor starting out working with sheet metal, pipe & duct fabrication. After being promoted to field superintendent, he then went on to become a full time estimator & project manager. With over 17 years of experience working in the mechanical construction industry, he came to Mechworks in 2017 as the Vice President of the Triangle Office.
With technical expertise in HVAC duct design, fabrication, layout & installation as well as HVAC for systems, his wealth of experiences have helped him in the estimating and project management aspects of his work. In addition to these duties, he has knowledge of both construction coordination & general operations management and has been responsible for the day to day operations of a contracting business as well as managing up to 50 employees.
